H

A boy picked up a fish, then
Walked down the road,
Joined the death march of traffic,
With smoke rising casually from the lying truck behind.

A girl passed him water, then
Walked away,
Shotting her gaze at vehicles, but like a ghost,
Basin on her head, steady as stone.

A man yelled at him, pushing past the cart, then
Disappeared into crowds of people and tables of fish, where
The boy would find himself
Fade away, piece by piece,
Into the memory only baobabs and termitarias would know, and only
You and I would remember, because

You’ve got a smile that could light up the whole night, brighter than the
Stars that shine above.
Your voice echoes through all the vastness and wildness of
Savannah,
A land of risk nobody would easily take.
A country of waves nobody can easily break.
Summer is cruel.
But I’ve met u, at the worst time,
Best of life.

Remember me.
